The world of Arah
House of Arah is a contemporary Indian lifestyle brand rooted in emotional living, craftsmanship, and quiet luxury.
We believe the objects we live with quietly shape how we feel, gather, pause, and return to ourselves.

Why We Create
In a world moving increasingly faster, we are drawn toward spaces that help us slow down.
At Arah, we create objects designed not merely for function, but for feeling — pieces that bring warmth, atmosphere, and intention into everyday living.
We see luxury not as excess, but as emotional depth, material honesty, and the quiet beauty of living meaningfully.

Craft, Material & Process
Being based in Nagpur gives us access to CP teak, or Sangwan, a naturally beautiful, warm and durable wood.
For many of us, Sangwan carries a sense of familiarity, reminding us of the homes we grew up in.
We bring that warmth into a contemporary design language.

Designed to Age Beautifully
Every Arah piece is made by hand, from cutting and shaping to sanding and finishing.
We use French polishing, a traditional technique applied in thin layers to bring out the depth and natural grain of the wood.
We also believe that keeping craft alive means valuing the people behind it, which is why we work towards fair trade practices with our craftsmen.

Rooted in India
Arah draws deeply from Indian philosophy, craftsmanship, and the emotional culture of gathering, hosting, ritual, and home.
Rooted in India and designed for contemporary living, our objects seek to create spaces that feel calm, layered, and deeply personal.
The person behind Arah
I’m Maithili, the designer behind House of Arah and a graduate of NIFT Mumbai in Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories Design.
I’ve always loved making, from sketching and crafting as a child to experimenting hands-on in the workshop today. My love for wood grew while working at a design company, where I discovered its warmth, character and the nostalgia it carries. Coming from a tier 2 city, I wanted to bring that familiarity of wood into a contemporary Indian design language and create the things I’ve always wanted to make.
House of Arah is an extension of that journey, from an idea and a sketch to something real, made to be lived with.
